What To Do After SPM?
Now that SPM is over, what should you do? Well, most school leavers already have something in mind. Some might pursue studies using trial results (these people are usually the smart ass straight As students). But if you still have no idea of what to do, below will be a few suggestions of what you might want to do. I've experienced this before so I know there are some of you encountered boredom after going through a tough period of preparing and sitting for SPM.
Suggestions:
1. Plan your study path based on your interest and your hunch for your SPM result.
There is nothing better than deciding your study path based on your interest. Why? Because,
having a career of your dream is more exciting and will keep you motivated all the time. If you were to have a career that you do not enjoy doing, stress factor might occur faster than usual and you'll probably be quitting your job early instead of working towards old age retirement.
2. Visit Education Fairs.
During the period after SPM, there'll be many events held by education ministry, NGOs and companies dealing with education. There, you'll get to know about the perfect institutions for you to pursue your studies. Besides that, you'll also get to learn about your own personalities through personality test which will guide you towards your right career choices. Tuition fees too expensive for you to afford? Don't worry, if you're having financial problem to pursue your studies and you have flying colours result, there'll be agencies that are ready to help you. There, you'll get to learn about scholarships and the qualifications you need to be eligible to be a scholarship holder.
3. Travel
This will cost you money but if you have no issues with that, I suggest you travel. By traveling, you'll get to learn about new places and at the same time, you'll get accustomed to flights which is very crucial as I believe some of you will pursue your studies outside of your hometown or state. Like me, what I did was I traveled to Kuala Lumpur. There, I get to learn about using public transportation and places where I can do my shopping and filling my tummy. For me, I considered that experienced as an early preparation.
4. Part time Jobs
Doing part time jobs is a must experience for you as this will give you early exposure as to how the society works nowadays. As you step into adulthood, making your way into the society, you won't be burdened much as you get the basic understanding from your part time jobs. Doing part time jobs also earns you money which you can buy the things that you don't want to burden your family to get you for.
5. Revision
This may sound absurd for some of you but I believe this will be very helpful. Some of you might pursue foundation studies and for that programme, there'll be subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. Therefor, doing revision will ease your studies as you attend lectures of those courses.
